League Information (Winter 2023/24)
About Us
We are a friendly local 8-ball pool league with teams playing from pubs and clubs in and around Buxton on Tuesday evenings. We run Summer and Winter league programmes with supporting knockout competitions. We welcome new teams and players so if you're interested in playing or want to enter a team in the next league programme, please get in touch using the contact information on this website or through our Facebook page.
We are currently in our Winter 2023/24 season. At the Winter AGM we voted to continue with the International 8 Ball Pool rules adopted by the EPA and which were successfully trialled in our Summer 2023 season. The International 8 Ball Pool rules can be found in the Resources section and we dropped sheets around to all the venues at the start of last Summer season.
As we are now down to 8 teams we also voted to extend the season by repeating the first 7 fixtures at the end so all teams play each other 3 times, extending the league season to 21 weeks. We recognise that this means some teams will play more away fixtures than home but with 6 of our teams playing from 3 venues we could not see a way to make the 3rd set of fixtures neutral.
We will be relaxed about allowing nominations to fill any empty slots for teams who turn up with fewer than 6 but we will monitor use of this concession and intervene if teams use it unfairly.
Winter League subs are £50 per team and £5 per player.
